Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a specific model for integrated behavioral health?

We employ the PCBH model to ensure that patients receive the right level of care when they need it. Our behavioral health consultants work side-by-side with primary care providers to monitor your progress, coordinate care, and adjust treatment as needed.

My doctor says they work with behavioral health. What does that mean?

Each provider contributes their unique expertise, offering insights that benefit patients holistically. Our integrated approach means patients experience less stress in navigating multiple healthcare systems and more cohesive care across disciplines.

How do I make an appointment?

If you would like to be connected with one of our licensed providers, the process is simple! Just ask your CCP doctor for a referral to integrated Behavioral Health. We will contact you within 48 hours to get the process started and get you scheduled.

Can I come in-person if I want?

Yes, most patients’ doctors have BHCs right in their office.

What is a behavioral health consultant? Is it the same as a psychologist or a social worker?

A Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) is a licensed mental health professional—such as a psychologist, licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), or clinical social worker (LCSW)—who works directly within the primary care setting as part of the healthcare team.  BHCs provide evidence-based interventions to address behavioral health concerns like stress, anxiety, depression, sleep, or lifestyle changes. The role emphasizes easy access and timely care, collaboration, and support for whole-person care.

Does behavioral health cost me anything?

We par with most insurance, meaning that your payment will depend on your individual plan. Many patients simply pay a copay in the same way they would for other medical appointments. It is always best to check with your insurance in advance if you are unsure of your benefits.

How long do I have to see a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC)?

There is no designated length of time you need to see one of our providers; that is up to you. As part of your treatment and planning, your provider and you will discuss timelines and optimal treatment recommendations. Every person is different, and so is every treatment plan.

Many patients meet with a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) for just a few sessions—focused on specific concerns like stress, sleep, parenting challenges, or coping with a new diagnosis. Others may benefit from longer support. The BHC works as part of your primary care team, so sessions are goal-focused, and tailored to your needs. Once your feeling better, you’re always welcome to check in again in the future if something new comes up—just like you would with your doctor.

I’ve never done anything like this before, what can I expect?

It’s completely normal to feel unsure before your first visit, and we’re here to make the experience as comfortable as possible. You can expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere where we will try to get to know you better with both a full intake and questions along with Meeting with a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) is a lot like talking with another member of your primary care team. The conversation is casual, focused on your overall well-being, and centered around what matters most to you—whether it’s managing stress, sleep, health changes, or life transitions. You won’t be asked to commit to long-term therapy. Instead, our goal is to offer practical strategies in a short series of visits that support your health and help you feel better.
