Biography

Karen Johnson-Williams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) on our Integrated Behavioral Health team. BHCs at Community Care Physicians are licensed mental health providers and social workers. Many are embedded within our practices working side by side with your doctor and health care team in delivering you the best “whole person” healthcare possible.

Karen has experience working with a diverse population, specifically the youth, adults, and families. She has treated depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, grief, trauma/PTSD, anger management, chronic illness, relationship/family issues, perinatal counseling, infertility, life transitions, mood disorders, self-esteem, sexual-related concerns, substance use, thinking disorders, women’s issues, identity/gender-affirming care, and Veteran-related concerns. Karen is also fluent in Russian.

Her first career was in higher education administration, where she found herself supporting and counseling students and families through pivotal times in life. This experience influenced her to pursue clinical training. Karen loves bearing witness to emotional healing that allows individuals to succeed in other areas of their lives.

Karen has previously volunteered for community youth advocacy committees. She was an original member of the Albany Community Policing Committee and served as a previous board member for the Albany Community Land Trust. Outside work, Karen enjoys traveling, baking, and gardening and has an eclectic taste in movies (which she often uses anecdotes for her professional work).
